New Organs I

iPad
On a sleepless night, I lay on my side in the dark, scrolling through my phone. Tears squeezed out by a yawn blurred the small glow on the screen. In that instant, I felt as though I had sunk into the deep sea, watching a beam of light emanate from my own hand.
I realized I had become an anglerfish, a frail lantern dangling above my head, casting a pitiful glow across the ocean floor. Yet the seabed remained pitch-black; the light was only enough to illuminate myself.
Using the light emitted from electronic devices as the sole source of illumination, I photograph the bodies of their users. Through this method, I create a series of portraits featuring people engaged with different electronic devices.
I hope that through these images, viewers can glimpse the condition of modern nocturnal life—where humans and their electronic organs exist in dependence, in symbiosis, perhaps even in a state of gradual fusion.
